Through a new rollout, MetLife integrates Osara Health’s evidence-based behavior change program into its Disability and Leave Management offering, strengthening their whole-person cancer support ecosystem.

New York, January 12, 2026 – Cancer is now a leading driver of serious health claims in the U.S. workforce, responsible for roughly one-quarter of high-cost claim dollars1. Behind each claim is a person trying to manage a number of potential factors such as treatment, work, family responsibilities, and a future that can suddenly feel uncertain.

To provide employees with deeper, more human-centered support during their cancer care, MetLife and Osara Health are working together to deliver a behavior change program as part of MetLife’s Disability and Leave Management services, building on their commitment to delivering whole-person support for individuals with cancer.

What the Partnership Delivers

Osara Health will provide eligible members with evidence-based behavioral cancer coaching that complements clinical care and fits naturally within MetLife’s benefit solutions. This model focuses on where many employees with cancer struggle most: the moments between doctor appointments.

The program offers one-on-one support across three key areas:

  • Symptom management – Helping individuals manage pain, fatigue, sleep, and other common side effects so they can get through daily life with more stability and less distress.
  • Healthy lifestyle and coping – Supporting nutrition, activity, stress management, and emotional resilience, tailored to each person’s medical context, goals, and home life.
  • Return-to-work planning – Providing practical guidance for staying connected to work where possible, planning a phased return, and navigating conversations with employers and colleagues.

By identifying eligible individuals earlier and offering continuous support, from diagnosis through recovery, the program aims to help them maintain daily functioning, prevent complications, and feel more equipped to navigate both treatment and work.

Osara Health participants achieve better outcomes on average, including:

  • 7x increase in their activity levels2
  • 73% of participants are more likely to return to work and their previous daily activities3
  • Participants return to work 16.5 weeks faster than non participants4

A More Complete Cancer Support Ecosystem

With this integration, MetLife strengthens its whole-person model of cancer support, giving participants access to:

  • Personalized coaching
  • Digital tools that fit into everyday routines
  • Support that spans treatment, home life, and work
  • Practical guidance for navigating financial and workplace responsibilities

This continuous, real-world support fills gaps that often fall outside traditional clinical pathways and care navigation by helping members feel more in control at a time when predictability is rare.

What It Means for Employers

For benefits leaders, cancer is both a human issue and a strategic one. High-cost claims, rising incidence among working-age adults, and the impact on productivity and retention make it essential to move beyond coverage alone.

Employers gain a scalable, evidence-based solution that aligns clinical care with the day-to-day realities of cancer and demonstrates meaningful support when employees need it most.

MetLife and Osara Health’s shared commitment is clear: a more complete, compassionate, and effective response to cancer in the workplace.
